Citizens of Abeadze Tabosom community in the Mfantseman Municipality have shared difficulties they have been going through for the past twenty-three (23yrs) in accessing health care whiles community self financed Community-Based Health Planning Service (CHPS) Compound constructed and handed over to government was abandoned to rot in a bush for the past three years. According to them all efforts to get government to stock the facility with equipment and logistics for health workers to operationalize it did not yield any positive result. Government has neglected them as if they are not part of Ghana. It came when their Member of Parliament, Ekow Kwansah Hayford handed over hospital equipment to Mfantseman health directorate to put the facility in use.
The queen mother for Abeadze Tabosom is calling on government not to consider citizens of rural communities as villagers but instead pay attention to their welfare. She was speaking to the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman when he presented hospital equipment and logistics to the Director of health in-charge of Mfantseman Health Directorate to stock their Community-Based Health Planning Services (CHPS) Compound built by the community in 1995 but has seen not been utilized due to lack of hospital equipment and logistics. She requested for the provision of water and light at the facility so that workers can feel comfortable in their work. According to Nana Ama Ntsifua I, most of their social amenities in the community were initiated by themselves.
The Municipal health director, Mrs. Georgette Annette Graham-Hayfron who received the items said, when they visited the facility about six years ago, in an attempt to access the facility it was full butts and she could not initially entered the room. She expressed gratitude to the Member of Parliament for the provision of the equipment.
The Member of Parliament Ekow Kwansah Hayfron commended the good work demonstrated by the people of Abeadze Tabosom by constructing such a facility. He promised to complete seven bedroom nurses quarters which have also been left in bush due to lack of fund. He also pledged to construct bore hole and provision of street lights at the facility. He ended up by saying if politicians continue to abandoned projects like this, posterity will not forgive them.
The Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Municipal Constituency commended the communal spirit demonstrated by the of Abeadze Tabosom has really encouraged him. He pledged to dig bore hole and provision of street lights at the facility. He also pledge to complete the nurses quarters and their community center whose request was put before him.
