The Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo Addo has assured Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) members that transfer of 3.1 billion Cedis of Tier 2 pension fund which has been outstanding for six years into their custodian accounts of the pension schemes of the labour unions a demonstration on the part of government that contributors will definitely get their funds. This transfer paid way for the implementation of the public sector occupational pension schemes. She assured them that auditing of the temporary pension fund accounts and issues relating to the data of contributors will be addressed by February, 2019. The relevant institutions have been tasked to complete this exercise to enable smooth implementation of the Tier 2 pension scheme.
The General Secretary for Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSSAG) Daniel Annan is reminding government to be mindful that no government can develop it nation with it political tenure of office without civil services staff. The governmental policies should not last just for political tenures but should be kept in continuity for nation building. He delivered a solidarity message at the 13th Quadrennial national delegates’ congress of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana under the theme: “Neutrality within the Civil and Local Government Services”. Mr. Daniel Annan commeded CLOGSAG for choosing appropriate them for the congress. The theme for the congress is timely hence, JUSSAG pledges their full support to the theme for the occasion.
The head of Civil and Local Government Service Association of Ghana Nana Kwesi Agyekum Dwamena charged CLOGSAG members to remain focus, professional and accountable to deliver quality services. It is important for CLOGSAG to remain political neutral to ensure proper and efficient functioning of government machinery. Staff should in the discharge of their duties be of high integrity, loyal and impartial to the benefit of the nation. He further said, the Civil Service Council has had unpleasant duty of sanctioning some staff as a result of their active participation in open partisan political activities. He is urging CLOGSAG members not to engage in open partisan political activities.
Some CLOGSAG members who spoke to our news team used the congress to appeal to government to do something about their welfare and also to resource the association with the critical logistics to enable them to deliver quality services to the nation.
